What is a physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists work with a variety of patients experiencing different situations, including disabled children and adults, women during/after giving birth, athletes, patients in hospital or people recovering from an accident, injury or illness. Responsibilities include developing rehabilitation programmes including physical exercise sessions, massages, electrotherapy/ultrasounds, writing reports and liaising with other healthcare professionals.
Physiotherapist job requirements
Physiotherapy degree approved by the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC)
Full registration with the HCPC
Good physical health and fitness, including the ability to demonstrate or provide training on recommended exercise programmes
Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills
The ability to work with patients both one-on-one as well as within a wider team environment
