Job Title: Paediatric - ED Nurse
Location: Peterborough
Pay Rate: £24-£40/hour
Shifts Patterns: Early, Late, Long Days & Nights

Job Purpose:
To act as a clinical role model within the Paediatric Emergency Department, supporting effective high quality care delivery and encouraging a positive patient experience, whilst maintaining clinical credibility and disseminating knowledge as appropriate.
To communicate effectively with the ED/Paediatric team, Clinical teams, Matrons, Practice Development Team (PDT) and the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
A minimum of 2 years Emergency/Medicine experience is required with evidence of professional development to ensure competence in line with the ED educational strategy. Develop clinical practice through education, in line with the ED educational strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the organisation and day to day management of a team of staff giving care to patients
Ensure that patient care remains a priority in inter-professional practice and that referrals to the MDT are timely and discharge planning takes place where appropriate
Ensure practice is continually reviewed and developed, in liaison with the ED team and PDT
Liaise with the Shift Coordinator for in the management of the Paediatric area of the ED for duration of the shift.’
Ensure that you are individually aware of changes in guidelines and policies that impact on clinical practice.
Maintain own professional registration complying with the professions standards and identify own development needs.
Uphold the Values and reputation of your profession and the Trust at all times.
Be open and candid with all service users about all aspects of care and treatment, including when any mistakes or harm have taken place.
Have the courage to speak up and report where care, clinical practice, behaviours or values go against that as set by the NMC and the Trust
Education
Essential criteria
Registered Children's Nurse
3 years post registration experience
PILS trained
2 years’ experience working in ED
Teaching and assessing qualification
Safeguarding level 3
Desirable criteria
Degree in Paediatric Nursing
Post registration additional courses. (HDU course)
Completion of or working towards a leadership programme
APLS/EPLS
TNCC/ATNC
HMIMMS
Experience
Essential criteria
Extensive experience in: -
Cannulation/Venepuncture - IV competent
Comprehensive applied anatomy and physiology relevant to clinical area
Excellent understanding of safeguarding
Competent in Manchester Triage -
Experience of looking after the critically ill/intubated child - Problem solving
