Job Title: Registered Midwife
Location: Leicester, UK
Pay Rate: £32-£35/hour
Shifts Patterns: Early, Late, Long Days & Nights
Job Summary:
To deliver total care to mother and babies within the hospital and community environment as required to meet the expectations of Better Births and Continuity of Carer.
To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of evidence based midwifery care at all times.
To provide support both educationally and clinically to students and colleagues.
To be involved in teaching and education.
To participate in research
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
To liaise with all members of the multi-professional team, thus co-ordinating all aspects of the mothers’ care.
Ability to communicate clearly with women and their families.
Able to provide non-judgmental and non-directive support and information.
Maintain accurate contemporaneous records.
Respect confidentiality, needs and rights of women at all times.
Explanation of results and appropriate referral pathways
Promote an open and trusting relationship with women
Develop and maintain the core band 6 midwifery clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide clinically effective, holistic, evidence based midwifery care and to be competent in the following:
Perineal repair
Neonatal and adult resuscitation
Midwifery led care
Epidural top ups for women in labour
IV drug administration
IV cannulation
Interpreting cardiotocograph recordings
Supporting breastfeeding in line with trust policy
Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE)
To ensure and maintain effective communication pathways within all levels of the multi-disciplinary team.
Delegate responsibilities to other team members including appropriate referral to medical staff.
Create a non-judgemental and supportive environment for colleagues.
To act up in the absence of the Midwife Co-ordinator/Ward Manager and participate in the day-to-day functions of the team to ensure effective team working.
To work as a team player providing a flexible approach to both patients and colleagues.
To support the co-ordination and organisation of clinical activity
Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff
Requirements for a Medical Staffing Registered Midwife:
Education/Qualification
Essential
Registered Midwife NMC Pin number
Desirable
Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge and experience
Essential
Knowledge of developments in specialist fields e.g. Midwifery
Desirable
Research Audit awareness
Recent relevant clinical experience e.g. perineal suturing
