Practice Nurse

Job description

We have partnered with a cutting-edge healthcare partnership and training practice in Hampshire. They have a list size of approx 19,000 patient. They are dedicated to improving patient services and training and developing clinicians for the future. They are actively seeking a new Clinical Pharmacist to join their diverse and experienced team of healthcare professionals.

Position Details:

·       Job Title: Practice Nurse

·       Job Type:  Up to 37 hours a week, Tuesday to Friday -- 08:00-17:00

·       Location: Hampshire

·       Salary: £36,000 - £39,000 per annum, depending on experience, Plus NHS Pension, 5 weeks A/L plus BH & 1 week CPD allowance. Supportive of training, development.

·       Support Team:

- Large practice of around 80 staff this includes 32 PCN staff that support them and the other 4 practices in the PCN. 6 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GP's, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate and 4 HCA's. Team of around 20 Patient support team (PST) plus a small team of QOF and Secretaries.

Main Duties:

Listed below the main duties, we would also like the candidate to have respiratory experience, but it is not essential. We are using Emis Web but training is provided.

Identify, and manage as appropriate, treatment plans for patients both at risk of developing a long-term condition and diagnosed chronic disease

Undertake cervical cytology screening on those who are eligible in line with national guidelines

Dressing and wound management, including compression bandaging/hosiery and Doppler/leg Ulcer care.

Respiratory Care Asthma & COPD

Suture and clip removal.

Management of skin disorders.

Recognition of mild childhood illnesses.

Testing pathology samples e.g. blood, urine.

Blood pressure and weight management.

Aid/chaperone to GP during clinical procedures, e.g. minor operations etc.

Specimen collection e.g. msu, pregnancy tests, occult blood, faeces for O&S, sputum, etc.

The Nurse will be responsible to putting labels on samples, form filling and ensuring timely preparation of specimens for collection to laboratory.

General observations e.g. BP, pulse and temperature.

ECG

Use and care of nebulisers.

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for upkeep and maintenance of medical equipment.

Ensure the maintenance of stock levels in the Treatment Room relating to patient care.

Vaccinations/Injections

Childhood immunisations as per the child immunisation programme and have signed relevant Patient Group Directives.

Travel vaccination schedules and travel advice.

Flu vaccination clinics

Routine injection e.g. B12, Prostap, Denosumab.
